Job profile – Assistant General Manager

Do you know what it takes to be an Assistant General Manager.

Just like a general manager, the assistant general manager is a good all rounder. Alongside proven sales skills in the hospitality sector, an assistant general manager will have to have extensive experience in the pub or restaurant business and ideally previously worked at a management level, maybe as a bar, restaurant or kitchen manager or supervisor.

An assistant manager will work closely alongside the general manager, and will need to be able to deputise in the general manager’s absence.

Having the confidence to manage a team, or a willingness to learn these skills, will be a bonus, as it’s not always an easy task, so being able to communicate well with people (staff, suppliers and customers alike) is a must.

Salaries can start around £18k, but some companies pay considerably more, especially in London and other big cities.
